Based on just that last page, it's almost 100% the humans fault for everything. I bet they tried expanding into the demon land or started slaughtering their people for being different but claimed it was the other side. It's also not like the "hero" has done any good for demons either. While there were most likely humans killed by the princess, who knows how many demons were slaughtered by the hero personally. I'm also betting with his town, it'll come out that the humans did it

Quick reminder that as a general in the demon Army the demon princess has personally killed countless humans.
??? So there are only good humans? there is bad on both sides. What if the slavers wanted the division that way both sides buy slaves. Plus criminals on both sides can move around easily because they can just blame the other side. 🤔

It might be something like Maou no Musume where the demons genuinely are evil but are able to change over time. Though this series does seem pretty troupey so it'll probably be another one of those "the humans were actually the bad guys!" twists that everyone can see coming
I hate those so much. They conflate redemption with a stupid twist becaus they’re too lazy to add any of the complexity war has.

To the translator: ‘oy’ is perfectly standard usage in British English. The version considered standard throughout Europe, Australasia, India, etc (And considered classier in many other countries, including Japan). A considerably larger population that the pitiful sway of Merriam Webster. Perhaps you should stop talking about being used by only an insignificant number of English speakers?

We are perfectly aware of that, the nuance really come down to whether this would should be localized or rawdog it. Japanese have tons of words that just straight out work (oi, eh, uh, etc...), we're just trying to make sure readers don't accuse us of MTL :v

quick reminder that she’s an elite meaning if she has slain humans it was on battlefields where she’d have been needed not random villages. It’s kill or be killed in war.
Not only that, but last chapter the maid specifically said that she wiped out anyone who "invaded the demon lord's castle," which I take to mean she always fought in a defensive capability.

I could never understand how the hero would say all demons are evil whilst a literal a human being was going to do harm. Are human views just simply one sided?

that kind of made me realize we do technically have "oi" usage in english in the same way it's used in japanese, but with the caveat that it's british english... oi bruv innit

Just a note, as a Brit who uses the term, it is written as "oi". I've only ever seen "oy" if it's immediately followed by "vey", which is a very different thing lol.

Another perspective from someone who's lived in the northeastern US: I was stopped-in-my-tracks confused by your use of "Oy" because it doesn't imply the English "oi" but the specifically Yiddish "oy." As in "oy vey" or "oy gevalt" which don't carry nearly the same emotional meaning.

Readers who come from areas with populations of Ashkenazi Jews or are just familiar with the culture are going to read that bubble in a way you didn't intend at all. I'd consider changing it, honestly. It's also the kind of thing antisemites would put in a speech bubble to imply that a character is jewish for reasons. Which I don't think you were trying to do, for the record. But uh, be aware of that.

I'd also say that even if readers aren't familiar with the Anglo "oi," they're definitely going to be weebs familiar with the Japanese "oi" that's littered throughout anime and manga. Safe bet that it won't be their first rodeo if they're reading scanlations.

Thanks for the TL. Anybody who wrongfully accuses you of MTL can just go fuck themselves.

I'm just starting this chapter but this hero is not too bright and/or is a battle maniac and wants to go back to killing.

Does he have to love her or even like her? no, most certainly not, but he is the linchpin in the peace treaty, he need to at least act civil.
Heros are tasked with near impossible challenges, and are sacrifices for their country, this time rather then the battlefield it's co-habitation.

But he is constantly hostile and even declared co-existence can never happen, if she didn't have a crush she could go home tell daddy and he'd announce the hero made it clear peace was both impossible and unwanted.
How much would humans like the hero after he restarted the war they where loosing.

Funny how the scanlation team went through so much deliberation on how to translate a 2 letter word. 🤣 Just shows their dedication.

Though most of the us peeps reading this are weebs so I don't think you should worry too much about localizing. I personally like for these almost onomatopoeia-esque words to just be directly translated into romaji.
