There is a thing about North American culture before somewhere around 2000, and Japanese culture today, that most modern North Americans don't get. The thing is that in many cultures (specifically most moderate to strongly male chauvinist ones) women aren't supposed to say they want it. They're not supposed to initiate, they're not supposed to say "yes" if asked. Improper, bad and such. The risk of kissing someone who does not want to be kissed is so much greater than that of not kissing someone who is into you when they haven't said anything. Remember: she has NOT openly confessed to him so anything with romantic or sexual intent behind it is a risk and it's always better to ask for consent than to assume it is given.
It's obvious why to us as readers, but for all Amane knew, she could have very well closed her eyes because she felt scared. It's also worth keeping in mind that if Amane was the type of guy who could kiss a girl he wasn't even dating without explicit confirmation, then Mahiru would never have fallen for him in the first place. This is also something that should be obvious to us, but is not obvious to Mahiru.
I'm not gonna grace the ass above with a quote notif but I'm no dude, I'm a gal trying to remind those of y'all who still need reminding that forcing yourself onto someone is fucked up and a very quick way for them to lose any and all trust in you.
And you need to be reminded that this is a Manga, a work of fiction. If you cannot accept that you have no place reading manga.I'm not gonna grace the ass above with a quote notif but I'm no dude, I'm a gal trying to remind those of y'all who still need reminding that forcing yourself onto someone is fucked up and a very quick way for them to lose any and all trust in you.
It is an idealogy push what it is being hated, the manga per see is awesome, also, there is much more spiciness later on in the history and the ideology pusher really does not know nor I think it will handle it properly.I don't quite understand how this has become a topic of discussion. In this particular context, Mahiru grew to trust Amane because he was so gentlemanly, silently considerate, and there were no ulterior motives behind his kindness. She fell for him precisely because he wasn't the kind of guy who would steal the lips of a girl he wasn't dating or had confirmed mutual feelings for. True, perhaps in this scene Amane could have gone for the kiss, but I believe it would be wrong to say he should have; his parents did not raise him to be like that. There are other factors too: Amane's lack of self-confidence at this stage, the fact that Mahiru not long ago would tell him not to get any funny ideas, or that she would crush his balls if he ever tried anything, and the fact that he is experiencing love for the first time.
On a personal note, it does not make me happy to see such hateful comments thrown about in the comments of such a wholesome series, and I wish some people here would learn some of Amane and Mahiru's qualities in that regard
Fascist child in the room... I can debate with most people, but these idiots who think that opposing opinions should be removed from the internet are just absolutely pathetic. I'm getting a lot of angry INCEL energy from this clown. If you can't accept other people having opinions that differ from yours, you need to get yourself off the internet until you grow up.You honestly think going in for a kiss will destroy trust? THEN GET THE FUCK OFF SOCIAL MEDIA. You have a such a hate boner but you’re right. Nothing I say will ever change your sad hateful twisted brain. Get some therapy, learn to trust, you hateful hateful woman, you are so distrustful you can’t help but want everyone to be as distrustful and hateful as you. Think about it, be better. But you won’t, we both know that.
Lol, Iḿ not defending anything here, but you calling him Incel and then demanding him also to get out of the internet requires your own solution to be applied to yourself as well.Fascist child in the room... The only point that frustrates me about the “verbally ask for consent” crowd is that seduction and attraction are 75% non-verbal. Theres a reason why the phrase “they were so pretty until they started talking” exists. There is A LOT that goes on in the romance world that’s strictly just body language and subtle cues, and asking for permission at every step is nothing short of a mood killerLet's be honest, if he had slipped her the tongue here, she would have gone beet red and panicked, but she would have wanted it. She is always bitching to Chitose in the background that he is moving too slowly.
And yes, I know he wouldn't have done it, but she still would have liked it.
