The ship combat is definitely Elite Dangerous, but unlike ED's where travel is based on the ship's jump range, intergalactic travel in the manga has each star system uses gates to other adjacent system(or hypergates much farther, but restrixter use) and how large scale skirmishes like this arc's anti-crystal misson is closer to Eve online.

I find it incredibly cute how the reason why in this big ass solar system he keeps meeting up with Serena is because of his trait as a otherworlder. Its mighty obvious that he has some sort of time manipulation with his Slowing Down Time by holding his breath but just like pokemon he also has the counterpart Space Manip and Fate Manip. Even in the recent wn chapters his Fate Manip is just a passive of stuff going his way and its exactly the reason why he keeps meeting Serena even if he outright expresses his rejection in his heart he wants to keep meeting her

I always figured, some nebulas force in their universe decided to use him as their go problem solver, whenever a possible crisis started popping up. Like some short of ascended far seer, watching over time and space, going, "Well shit, that particular thing is going to be huge pain in the ass if left to fester, better steer Hiro that way and a nip in the bud."

I'm hoping it's because Fred Berman was busy with something else. Hoping voicing Hiro in the English dub of the anime. If it's getting one, but thus far there's been no official confirmation that they'll be one yet.

Well, if you're looking for a slightly more casual experience then Avorion, Endless Sky, and Rebel Galaxy are all good starting points if you want a good open-world space adventure without needing to dive too deep into any mechanics with a manual at your side.

Pirate/Bounty Hunting? Check.
Want to just Trade or do courier work? Check.
Ship Customization? Want to surprise some pirates with a BFG packing freighter? Check.
Fleet Building? You can just putter around by yourself if you don't want the trouble of managing a fleet.
Hostile Alien Invasions? You can leave it to the big boy factions if you don't want to deal with them.

I also recommend the X Franchise if you don't mind the eurojank, but does dive deeper than the other titles.

Considering crystal lifeforms can assimilate machinery and turn them into their kind, it's the equivalent of fighting an armored zombie virus to machines. Of course it'll instill fear to machine intelligence regardless how emotionless they are. The twins were also working extra hard by being very meticulous on checking any possible assimilations on the ships.

Previous chapter also shows that even Mei herself is against this risk of a battle, but she also knows her master's heart never willing to abandon the imperial fleet after all, risking a bigger regret.

There was a scene earlier in the LN where Tina flat out asked Mei, "You really do love him, don't you" which Mei replied "With all my heart"

I mean after all, Hiro has already asked if Mei wants to get married (as well as Elma and Mimi)
