Jury/Detective Duty in return for some glucose huh? And we still gotta properly meet the kid setting of Maru's senses, I imagine this'll grow into something a lot bigger a lot faster than they expect lol

just hope they can get back to Nata before she hits sleep mode.........

thanks for the chapter! (also page 3/501 is in there twice?)

Kiruko and Maru are totally the type of weirdos to snack on cat or fish food and tell you 'it's not bad, I swear'.

A three day countdown, a child of Hirukos, a murder and a cult — it should be a good arc, much better than those long months of flashbacks from side characters.

The building the man-eater is on top of in the cover is the Nogata Water Distribution Tower in Nakano.

Considering how the last chapter ended with Mikura and that she passed away in Nakano, we can probably assume this is her man-eater form.

at first I thought they were a cult but damn they need some unbiased witnesses to a trial.
I think they are sort of a cult, but not in the current sense exactly. In this post-apocalyptic landscape, beliefs really could be the source of strength. Maybe they were religious people from a local shrine who did community work before the collapse, now becoming their own "cult" but in the sense that they are a spiritual group that's strict about membership, seems they are open to help but their group divides people between those who have adjusted to the new circumstances "their sort" and the people who struggle to live in the new landscape "below us"

that kind of language still gives me an idea there is something off about them, but I think the key thing is that their temple has messages of Nirvana, maybe they see adjusting to the hardship as ascension, but not looking down on those who have not "ascended", probably some off-shoot shinto-buddhism of the post-apocalypse.

or they "ascend" those who are struggling, this is a cult after all

Huh, looks like they've come across a cult. Or is the "priest" just using cult-like structures to have something more familiar for the survivors :thonk:
Their little village seems to be doing pretty well tho, all things considered.
Either way, a murder case looks like it's going to be trouble...

You murderer - Maru ate most of it
Lmao, girl you were the one cooking:dogkek:

I didn't pay too much attention to the chapter cover but going by the theorising in here it seems like a significant teaser.
And speaking of lore, the kid on the car's backseat looked like it could be Maru's clone :pepehmm:

i believe Nata saying that is a way to not stress them, but a brain without glucose is more likely going to eternal sleep mode than temporary...
Her first impulse being to call her a murderer kinda of supports this. She was shocked and reacted on impulse to the implications of what might follow. But stressing them out and making them feel like shit will accomplish nothing so she backpaddeled to making the stakes known and understood but also lessen the guilt surrounding the situation. She's a good one.

Masakazu Ishiguro knows how to tease and arouse curiosity. No monologuing character, no wall of text, no over explanation. Just show and don't tell. If you can pick up the visual clues your enjoyment will greatly increase but even if you forgot most of the story elements, this one chapter alone will get you hooked for the next arc.

And thanks for the translation!
