I glaze the shit out of this manga every chapter but seriously, it's so good. I just really admire the pacing on this one - there's so much forward momentum, lots of little things happening that contribute to the flow of the story. Like one of the world's best scene transitions or something.

I thought this chapter was all over the place and not in a good way. This is one of those things where it should have been decompressed and the events of this chapter take place over a few because it's just throwing stuff at the reader. I wanted to see more of her family enjoying the festival, maybe see Mitsumi's sister actually interacting with Mitsumi's friends since we didn't really get that during the summer vacation arc. Yuzu and Mako not being wallpaper for once.

But nah, we really needed to speedrun everything to get to the super special broken boy because he hasn't hogged the spotlight enough in ways that have been completely detrimental to the series over the last two years.

Bold move from the random boy on Mika! love the reaction of the guys on the other side xD

i think it is intentional to have a lot of things thrown at us. Festivals are always hectic. I kind of agree with you about Shima's story taking a bit of time, but we'll see, our boy is still growing. Excited to see the second day of the festival :D

Although I disagree with the first paragraph, I agree with the sentiment. Shima has received a lot of attention in stead of the rest of the narrative

Hard to say what the best part of the chapter was!

That's one way of looking at it. I think the fast pace felt like a big event where you flit from brief interaction to the next, barely spending time with anyone. In spite of that, they fit a lot of setup in those little moments. Things like their parents' meeting, Mukai being in the room when Mika got asked out, background chatter about Shima's performance being good, and some foreshadowing that Mitsui is going to have some trouble before she gets to see his play. It was jam packed, but that's not a bad thing. I love jam.

I don't see it as speedrunning to get to Shima at the end. That was also setup for future events. Shima was only featured as much as anyone else. I think this was a chapter where a large part of the ensemble each got little moments, instead of a chapter where 2-3 characters take the foreground and the rest of the ensemble steps back.

You should let go of trying to control things in your life and just let things to happen. You will enjoy life more.

I don't know if you open every book, read every story with an expectation in mind before hand, and when the story, the pace doesn't go the way you prefer, you got mad and criticize the author for doing things "wrong". If that's the case, I think you also have this tendency in life, expect everything to go the way you want, and when life isn't like that, you feel frustrated.

What I like about this story is it's unexpected but natural flow. It doesn't have a predictable formula, or always try to please the reader. The author never try to please the readers, such as "this character is very popular among readers, let give them more spot light" or trying to hard to be fair and balanced between all characters, like "this character appears too much, let's reduce it", or "this character is the spot light of the previous arc, so this arc must focus on another character". This author never cares about these things, everything just happened unexpectedly, randomly, unfairly but very naturally. It's just like life, you never know what will happen next, it might be uncomfortable, or better, but you can't control it.

That's why this story for me is peak of slice of life. Things just happened.

This is one of the most condescending posts I've ever read.
