it is originally come from CHINESE immigrant IN japan where chinese soup noodle fitted with Japanese cuisine. the fact that it was advertised as genuine chinese food also didn't help. it was not some sort of malice or anything, it's just at the time, it was hard to import ingredient from mainland china so chinese in japan had to adapt with available ingredient. so for japanese, ramen was and still is considered chinese food, even when it was actually food unique from japan.Some Japanese still think ramen is Chinese...

the noodle does originated from southern chinese, but the name taken from nothern chinese due to misunderstood, while the cuisine was origanally japan. it was done by chinese immigrant in japan anyway. so it is chinese food regardless.It's originated from there, even its name comes from the Chinese pronunciation.
