I'm having fun trying to identify when Tanaka Mai Sensei fully committed to Kurahashi being a spy. I truly don't think he was planned to be one from the very beginning. Like, in terms of writing techniques, being able to leave and identify gaps in your own writing that you can use to write future foreshadowing is a very useful skill. Believing every detail was planned from the beginning is understandable because that is why the author employs that technique, but it does annoy me a little when people are like "the author must have planned this foreshadowing from the very beginning!" because it that neglects how generally an ongoing work is a living organism, and how the author goes about writing the present to have us realize the past. We all have milestones we aim for, but how we get there changes with our experiences
