I thought it was another Gooner bait with high school romance, but these dialogues are incredibly captivating and natural.
Even for those who don't like erotic reading, it's worth it for the good writing.

This can be a hard read for anyone who's struggled or knows someone else that's struggled with body image problems.

The author's pretty smart when setting the initial premise because it appears to be your average horny rom-com, but it's actually pretty weird from the start; most characters don't really behave like you'd expect and the 'erotic' stuff often feels forced in a way that feels intentionally unsettling (because it is). Mitsukura's body isn't outside of what you'd expect in this sort of manga, but she's actually the only one who doesn't have a realistic appearance, so she stands out like a sore thumb and you soon find out why.

The turning point is when you read ch.11, at which point I'd recommend you re-read from the start again, because there are a lot of prior clues here and there, especially in the way that Mitsukura interacts with Ageki and reacts to his words and actions.

It's actually pretty depressing. Mitsukura keeps repeating from the start that she wants an 'erotic body that will arouse anyone', but she's also aware that she strives for something that's pretty extreme (and she herself admits at one point she wants a 'monstrous' body) and then you see her reflection in chapter 12 and you realize she's terrorised of failing to achieve that, constantly hinting at a need for outside validation too.

In contrast, you have Ageki, who doesn't seem bothered by his body and is in fact quite content with it, while other side characters that want specific physiques try to achieve them in a much more relax, controlled manner than Mitsukura's obsession with an almost unattainable body.

The way it keeps the underlying theme of unrealistic expectations (in more ways than just body dysmorphia, mind you) as something that pops up here and there is actually pretty smart. Most times, when we do or think something that's toxic in this way ('I'm not good enough', 'I don't look good enough', 'I don't have a proper passion'...), we don't acknowledge the toxicity of it, so to portray those thoughts and actions as 'normal' and then remind the reader that their sources are actually toxic is a bold move because it means you take in each chapter in two waves; first, when you read it as is; second, when you think about the character motives.

It's grotesque at times and it hides its troubling aspects pretty well. It's not just ecchi, even if the execution is sometimes a bit flunky. Pretty decent stuff for a hentai artist, tho.

There's not a lot to this manga, is there? It's just walls-and-walls of text about nonsense and anytime there's a little bit of intrigue like with the fat guy's sister(trauma?) or with the main heroine's reflection(body dysmorphia?) it's removed immediately or glossed over, even his supposed childhood friend who is also an otaku seems like an afterthought. I thought the story was going to be an interesting, unconventional romance between a fat guy and a bodybuilder girl or maybe even some kind of lite-harem or love triangle but no, it's just an extremely bland slice-of-life. Just a fat guy talking to his platonic female friends about...I dunno, bodybuilding? Bodybuilding and p*rn? I dunno if this manga is glorifying exercising or criticizing it, it seems to acknowledge that exercise is extremely bad for you and yet seems to claim that bodybuilders have the most attractive bodies which just isn't true, The main female's body looks completely fake, unrealistic and unnatural kind of like Natasha Crown's(who underwent six butt lift procedures) I understand that the manga talks about her body being "unnatural" because that's literally what it is.

I'm also glad it mentions in one chapter that there isn't much of a difference between being overweight(obese) and being buff(obese). The male character's self-depreciation is annoying(maybe because as a fat guy it hits close to home for me and I understand the need for self-deprecating jokes to stop people bullying you)as well as the female otaku's lesbian lust/penis envy, it's frustrating and gets old fast. I didn't check the genre tags so If it is a romance then it's an extremely slow burn akin to The Apothecary Diaries which would kind of suck, It almost reminds me of Genshiken(If it were extremely lacking in substance) what with the doujinshi publishing and all. I'm surprised there hasn't been a chapter in which the bodybuilder girls talk about how whey protein makes them fart all the time, since, that's what it does...Because it's unnatural, you aren't supposed to consume it, it's another self-destructive thing bodybuilders and health nuts do. Honestly, people who are fat(not morbidly obese) tend to live longer than those who exercise because it's technically less self-destructive than actively destroying your joints and muscle fibers in the gym(self-torture chamber)

I guess tl;dr it's an Interesting premise with poor execution: The same as 90% of manga nowadays either that or I'm just extremely cynical, haha. The artwork is pretty good overall it's just hidden behind massive walls of text. Peace. ✌️

Your personal biases and beliefs seem to have had a strong negative impact on your experience with this manga and the topics it attempts to address sorry to hear it’s not for you but i hope you grow and develop a closer relationship with yourself so you can appreciate more diverse art and the messages they try to convey best of luck out there

I like the premise of this but I feel it just gets boring. The way i see it, It's just a slice of life disguised as a softcore porn manga. I understand there isn't really a plot but it's like the author just keeps throwing these random "plot points" like it's a psychological that leads to something. Like I genuinely don't know what that sister trauma thing was all about or why it was even added in there, as if it contributes anything to the manga besides the overall theme of discussing trauma. Maybe that's just what this is - a psychological novel on how different types of situations lead to various types of trauma and the how it affects people, illustrated as an ero. Maybe I'm just taking the information in differently compared to others - or I'm just completely off base here. I don't know, this is just my 2 cents of this. Feel free to "enlighten" me or whatever.

Looks like one of the translators asked for the chapters they uploaded to be removed due to a disagreement with the sites new policies.
