About the chapter: Yeah, Akiho clearly has some serious mental issues. I’ve completely lost any sympathy I had for her, and honestly, I don’t see how the author could ever make me feel differently. She’s a twisted manipulator who robbed the MC of his ability to give informed consent.

On another note, I decided to take a look at the Shoseki Ranking to see what the estimated sales were for the physical volumes of this dumpster fire.

The first volume was released on 2023/06/26, and in its first week, it sold around 3,675 copies. After that, there’s no further data tracking its sales. Are those numbers good? If this were an erotica dumpster fire, since I’ve looked at plenty of sales data for erotica manga, I’d say yes. But since it’s not, I’m not sure.

The second volume came out on 2024/02/26, and sold around 2,012 copies in the first week. Again, no sales data after that. There’s a clear drop in sales here, but are the numbers still decent? Once more, if this were erotica, they’d be ok. NTREVENGE, for example, is on volume 6 now, and the first five volumes had first-week sales around this range.

The third volume was released on 2024/11/27, and sold only about 1,319 copies in its first week. No data after that. Another drop. Are these numbers good? Not really. Even for an erotica dumpster fire, these are weak. You’d think that, since this is the volume where the big story bomb drops, the numbers would be at least close to volume 2, but that wasn’t the case.

I think that, even though the manga turned into a total dumpster fire in Volume 3 with the whole incest plotline, the real issue is the painfully slow release schedule. Since the release of Volume 3 on 2024/11/27, which covers Chapters 14 to 21, only 6 more chapters have come out. Honestly, I don’t know why the manga hasn’t been cancelled yet. The novel is already complete, the final volume was released back on 2023/11/10. If you want to know the full story, just buy the novel. You’d have to be a pretty die-hard fan to keep buying the manga volumes at this point.
