Her way of handling work during holidays is kinda like mine. While I can just say that I'm not supposed to work, I don't really care that much. And I get extra pay if I work during holidays anyway. I don't even file for vacation, and just get it by default whenever my standard workplace is closed.

No apologising for being sick. If you're sick, you're sick.

You're never a burden for someone forcing herself into your problems.

Japan is Japan, but I wouldn't go to the hospital for a slight fever.

"Such a high fever."
If he's well enough to not be in bed, it's not that bad. And it wasn't even 40°C.

"Can you do the laundry and cook for yourself?"
Pretty sure laundry can wait a day or two. And cooking something simple is easier that going to the doctor.

"I don't want to be a burden on them."
She already denied that.

"And I don't want them to hate me."
Pretty sure they would leave him alone if they were even remotely close to that.

The only difficulty with porridge is getting the consistency right. It's easy to get it too watery or dry. And she shouldn't claim she can make something even as simple as that if she still has her mum by her side.

It would be the consultation departments and individual clinics that are closed, so one would have to go ER instead

All Japanese fear the cold. It's an invisible blade, always waiting for it's chance to take the life of your girlfriend, your wife, your husband, your childhood friend, or even your boyfriend. The Japanese cold delights in snuffing out the lives of people in relationships.
