From married acquaintances, it's a phenomenon stemming from another woman has seen fit to marry them. Whether it's the change in confidence or just the presence of a ring, that another woman has claimed a gentleman means others deem him more desirable because someone has deemed them desirable.

Otherwise to a person like myself that has failed 2 decades in the relationship sphere: "tough luck, how about not being you? That might help."
