Haha yeah there's no way those low-born common scum would ever think of using flour, of all things, to thicken a sauce. It's not like flour has basically been the staple ingredient since the Neolithic or that gruel has existed from time immemorial or anything, no siree.

I don't know anything about Japan's marriage traditions, so I don't know why they don't celebrate it with a feast, or at least a small gathering with their family.

They do usually have a celebration, which is interesting that they don't want one. And are they really going to get married that fast? No engagement period? Interesting 🤔

I suspect they are not having celebration feast only on that side.At the Japan side they will have a feast. Reason is they will invite their family and or friends. One of the cover might be one of them. Judging from the attire she is of the Japan side.

Early on they said they were “dating with the intent to marry” so they were basically already engaged from the start

We only really see people talk about adding flour to stew around the 1800s.

Like take irish stew for example. We can find recipes for it around 1600s but it was only around the 1800s that people started adding flour (and potatoes) to it.

While stew has been around for time immemorial, usually
1) reduction would reduce and thicken the ingredients (a lot of cooking was done by leaving a container over a heatsouce)
2) the type of ingredients you added would act as a thickener. Some of the grains break down. Potatoes thicken the stew etc
3) some stews are meant to be watery so they can cook things in them (i.e western style dumplings)

So adding flour to stew would either be a hidden technique (so people don't talk about it) or relatively recent because there was no need to thicken the stew.

No way she made that level of flower marzipan in just a day without overworking herself in the way Shotaro got scolded over.
Every. Single. Petal. And. Leaf. Needs sculpted and then it all has to be carefully assembled. Doing a marzipan bouquet that detailed in a day is like "confectioner with 20 years experience" level.
