Thank you, that makes me feel a little better. I’d like to finish what I started, it’s basically a passion project for me (and I’m doing it alone, which is why the upload schedule is wonky).FWIW It doesn't seem like most English rights holders care that much about fan translations, especially ones that are basically just hobbyist ones, so it's pretty unlikely you translating this will result in anything that would affect you personally. The recent DMCA debacle, AFAIK, was brought about by the original rights holders and only really resulted in the removal of the chapters, not any action against the translators/uploaders. Finishing up the arc and stopping out of respect for the official translation should be fine from my experience.
Frankly I don't think there's any particular problem with you continuing the translation either if you want to. Really kinda just depends on how you view fan translations at that point. I.E. Is it a way to garner interest in something before it gets picked up then let the official translation take over, or is it something where you have enough attachment to it that you want your translation to stand as an independent alternative to the official and therefore continue translating it regardless of the status of the official translation.Thank you, that makes me feel a little better.
