I haven’t read this one in a while and I skimmed over the “big fight” chapter cause it was boring but I do recall that the former party was 1. Utterly useless 2. A bunch of assholes 3. I’m sure they’re aware of at least 2 of these things and even without them it’s clear he’s found better ways to spend his time, they literally have nothing to offer, not even sex since it’s blatantly obvious he likes them older, and even besides that why do they even want to be a party still?
