Noticed a lack of the romance tag. Does MC never get the girl or does she just get raped a bunch?

I've seen/heard of mangas that don't start with romance tags despite things going in that direction, only to later get said tag, so if we ever continue to get updates we could see it added later.

This seems to be leaning more heavily towards a harem outcome, even if via unintentional brain washing, but I could only really see a believable romance between mc and Hiori, and maybe the childhood friend if the mc can overcome his internal crisis before that ship sails.

You know... I had a feeling that the tentacles would use the offer of his original body as a bargain chip for him to switch sides.

I would actually be great, if at the end of the story, humanity is able to find a way to restore his body as a thanks for saving the world, but it's more likely that we'll get a bad ending.

But I just thought of something. What if hiori is actually MC's childhood friend either for an alternative future or who traveled back in time???

This is pretty good however I feel like it definitely needs some class cause just as things start getting good it slides right back down into the mud with making me cringe enough to consider dropping it. Like there is some pretty interesting bits and rationalizations but then other stuff just whiplash me right out of it. I know the eccentric scientist is a pretty big trope but its certainly not a good first impression.
Like for such a serious premise this could be excellent if it were treated seriously.
