I don't think they'll be notified, I guess 🤔
@LitrearaThat said, the ignore feature is pretty much useless because it only hides the other person's posts from you. They can still see everything you post and continue interacting with it.
but placing that ability in the hands of every forum user is more detrimental to the overall forum environment than relying on moderator intervention in the cases when it's necessary. a forum where blocking is a two-way street would have too many communicative gapsif someone is targeting and harassing you, I think it's reasonable to consider making your posts invisible to them
relying on moderator intervention
you can't mass shit talk staff, that was the true intent behind the 6 person DM limit. But BTO, how am I going to talk about the staff behind their backs if I can't even block them?!
i agree that there are some arguments that are completely not worth it, but barring other users from seeing your own posts, at your own discretion, is still a bridge too far, especially on a site like this one. (also R*ddit sucks lol)Nah, man, I can't agree with that. There are some people who just aren't worth arguing with or trying to correct. I think it's healthier to simply cut off the interaction. It works pretty well on Reddit.
I respect your opinion, but I don't think it's a retarded idea. As @Litreara said, it works on Reddit, which isn't as bad as you think, imojokes aside, allowing every user to block others from viewing their messages at will would be retarded, even assuming mods were incompetent
it would fragment discussion and even create separate readings of the same discussions altogether. allowing users to block any and all other users from seeing their posts at will, especially on a forum, is indeed retarded, and it always will be. this is just the truth, and nothing i or anyone else thinks will change that. i, as a user, should not be able to dictate which users can and cannot see my posts. The only way to know if it would work is to implement it and see how things go
