This doesn't deserve the bunch of low grades it got. The art is better than average and there was considerable effort put into most designs. The quality of the translation is quite low, but it gets better, and that shouldn't be a part of the manga rating regardless. Maybe that also threw off...

My guess is that the first adaptation was cancelled before they could adapt the whole story. This has similar character designs, but a different publisher and is progressing at a much greater pace than the original adaptation. Presumably, they want to try and adapt the complete story this time...

@Hypothon This seems like bad writing even taking your spoilers into account. Unless the author's aim was to make the mother and father morally equivalent, which I doubt since this is a cliche "guy considered useless proves everyone wrong by succeeding" set-up, and not a drama about intrigues...
