The typesetting was bad. The font on some of the text boxes was way too small.

Plastic bags aren't made to be held like that. From my experience with those types of bags, holding them like that results in them splitting in the middle.

Closest I can think of is Zelda TOTK, where weapons have durability, and you can attach items to a weapon to give it attributes.
