He wasn't born blind - he was blinded in an "experiment", so I assume a solid maybe on that one, given a medieval world's literacy rate amongst commoners. On another note, if not, then he might be able to get more time with the princess by asking her to teach him.

The Prince's bodyguard has an awesome helmet design, I love it. And the other one, she's basically just missing the outfit to be a proper banchou.
