Yea that's my prevailing theory in that she's not actually her real daughter. Still doesn't excuse the Ex for not really explaining their circumstances from the onset.. but well it's already entertaining if noting else, to see what contrived plot the author will manage to cook up so we will see!

To be honest, the author keeping the manga as an ecchi series (whereas the source novel is full 18+) just doesn't feel right. I mean it's still an interesting read but it feels a bit off given the mc events we're following are largely light whereas events on the other side of the island don't...
