This author, and the author of Angel Densetsku/Claymore/Sokyuu...I just appreciate how they really roll with their character's development, and embrace hilarity even when making a dark, dark world.

Hmm, I wouldn't call the guy a piece of shit. The girl is pretty, "grown up" (physically, and 16 was pretty okay before the modern era), but what he is sad and stressed. Sad and stressed people make poor decisions, and often suffer for them. Parents can legally sign off on those relationships...
