I don't see the gauntlet as a cop-out or Deus-Ex-M, I see it as it is, an item used appropriately at the right time. I haven't fully grasped what the following arc is.

This is the best arc so far, easily. Love it how mighty he thought he was and how Igris knocked him down his lofty perch.
