"Isekai" means "another world" meaning somebody or something has to travel to another world. Most fantasy stories don't take place on earth but are not isekai.

I'd recommend the novel, the manga leaves out a lot. While all the human garbage in the first few books some of the side stuff is actually interesting, like Oni's whole backstory.

That's a different conversation and one that relies on linear timeline theory.

The point is to punish someone for doing something wrong, but is it really punishment if they can't remember their crime, or is it just torture? This is actually an old conversation that has no real answer because both sides have good points.
