We've got specific motivations of hungry, revenge, and money- yet somehow the plot is nonsensical. I'm not even seeing the hint of a throughline or theme. Is this all just supposed to be character introduction, with a real plot starting in a few chapters?

Having another person involved is fine and all... but what's up with this confrontation? Is the story being cut short, did the author forget to flesh some of this out earlier and is just dumping everything now, is this really the best way to do this?
