I don't get how you could see that as positive. They implied, or directly showcased, thru the entire story that it was a bad world to be in. That it was a heavy choice to be a part of.
My understanding is that he didn't want her to live a life restrained by the scheming of politics, and to be used.

Gets old seeing artists/authors just resort to over sexualising stuff to keep attention even when the story is good enough to hold its own. Just feels like a bad omen that they'll overly rely on it going forward.
