Hmm, the timeline kinda confuses me. We see that playboy (is he the rockband star who went to school with kenji?) kill Kiriko's lover and then see him charming a girl, who i thought was young Kiriko, but it isn't. Is the first part with Kiriko a flashback while the latter is the present?

nah, the girl he's charming is professor shikishima (the person who disappeared alongside his whole family in the first chapter)'s daughter.
He killed Kiriko's loverperson and then charmed the professor's daughter afterwards.
