@Fuko Well it only seems like the author broke the mold because he didn't show what obviously would've happened afterwards;

When a mysterious girl, from out of nowhere, collides with the main character, leading to "lucky pervert" moment that seals the fate of the childhood friend.

The author is only showing the story of the main character and the childhood friend before the "real love interest" appears.
