I think I can relate. If you like something a lot but aren't open-minded enough to allow others to enjoy it differently, it's a torture to interact with them.

This cmt section is prime example of FMC's logic lol.
Each person has their own interpretation of the work. And if that piece of literature is smth u hold dear to your heart, hearing others' different opinions on it might "taint" your view and effect your enjoyment of that work.
At least online u can avoid them but it's pretty hard when they're members from same literary club sitting next to u.
