It's just a substitution alphabet. So it's essentially English with different characters. Basically a cryptogram puzzle. And several of the characters are extremely similar to their English counterparts. O becomes a square, L is just a vertical line, V is a triangle pointed down, and so on. You can use the easy ones to figure out the letters you don't know in other words.
