I can't help but feel for characters who feel trapped because of a situation.

Gotta give credit, among all the stupid backstories in manga, this one actually makes some sense. It seems like something that would happen irl and it is somewhat believable that her particular childhood regret would motivate her toward her present unrealistic goal.

Yes, the end. Notice the Final Chapter in the ToC.
This is not a promotional manga for visual or light novel, but still only 21 ch.
Strange, I wonder if it's axed or just finished. It feels too early
UPD: Nevermind it's 26 ch. Manga so probably everything should be finished... I hope, still feels rushed, I wanted more :C

Uh, does it? to me it sounds so ridiculously forced and stupid.
Like, i would get it if she was 10, but as 15-16 y/o the 4 girls should understand that if their store goes under, NOBODY will get to enjoy their sweets, no just poor income people.
So the most logical thing to do is avoid the worst case escenario of going bankrupt, and maybe you will be able to lower prices again in the future, once you dont have to worry about the debt.

Well psychological "trauma" is still quite strong reason.
The main thing I do not get is why they just can't create a product range with cheap and high end prices. It could be sad to someone to not get the cake you initially wanted because the price is high but they still can buy pretty tasty cake at affordable price in the same place. Like what's the problem?

Imo this problem is kinda forced to happened by the author
That store is her parents' and both are kids why can't her parents just give 2-3 slice of that cake to them and their daughter to enjoy small bday party it won't hurt their income

I'll regret following this manga if it ends with a story like this. It's really very disappointing. 👎

Literally this was what I thought.
The friend's mom can't afford the cake, sure, but why can't SHE ask her own parents to let her friend have it?
