The plan to redeem Tsubaki, so to speak, probably came alive in chapter six, way prior to the first maternity hiatus. It was the one where she "confesses" to Tadashi under a tree and gets reality checked. The chapter ends with her sobbing into her bedsheets, no punchline. At that point the story stopped being just Wile E. Coyote hunting the Roadrunner (i.e. Tsubaki trying to entrap Tadashi and hilariously failing) and became an actual romance.Recontextualise is certainly a word you could use. Correct me if I'm wrong though but wasn't early Tsubaki literally trying to get rid of Tadashi in the manner described as being villainous, thus earning the moniker?
I'm not naiive enough to believe this was a long term plan of the author to redeem her either. So many manga are written by the seat of the mangaka's pants that I doubt this was even a thought in the author's head before having her baby.
That was my first thought too, but maybe it'd be too predictable to play it straight like thathmm what would be the problem....
hear me out guys, i'm just throwing this out there.. could the father mistress was similar looking to tsubaki(or similarly endowed)? (it can't be the family as tadashi already mentioned her name before to the family and nothing happened)
Haven't read the beginning in a while, but I think that's right. The one caveat I would make is that in the first chapters, it was very much treated as a comedy beat, her using her own past of harassment (confirmed real on many instances, thus "justifying" her attitude towards men in general) and her reputation for entrapment (just rumors although she seriously did try to do it to Tadashi but it's implied she never actually did it to anyone else) to try and get rid of Tadashi until she realizes she is horny for him which turns into actual infatuation.is the author trying to gaslight us, she talks about how Tsubaki was always a victim of harrasment, and all the thing about honey traps and entrapment to men were just rumors, yet the first episode is about she trying to honey trap this guy, to the point of ripping her shirt off camera, to get this guy expelled, not because she tought he was dangerous or pervy, but because he annoyed her, I like the direction and growth of the characters, but she was an absolute bi*** at the start of the series
