I warned all of you this arc would suck. You can't say I didn't warn you...

Thanks for all your work with this, and that last bit killed me. Made the rather weak ending almost worth it.

Not sure if I'm disappointed by the meh ending or excited to discover there's a sequel that's 60 odd chapters in that I didn't know about.

This ending was weak, but understandable. I thought it was much worse, but actually reading it made sense in the end. Oh well, onto the sumo bro’s!

It's rare my brain shuts down completely because it can't process what it's seeing, so I am glad I read the ending of this. It was an enjoyable experience to be spontaneously forced into a zen state.

I mean, the ending sorta makes sense...but still. Whew.

Special thanks to Outer Heaven for which without them doing those few chapters we wouldn't have all these released all in one go.
Every fucking time. Never fails to work.

thanks for finishing this!

Not the best ending, I think "we must send him back" and "but lets keep his body around forever" are incompatible final statements. I do like forcing Musashi to concede, and then kissing his spirit out, that's fine. But it's odd how the actual climactic last blow was just a regular kick I guess? Why did that one make him drop his sword, when everything else didn't? Why does he care about his swords so much when he made a big deal out of being able to fight barebanded, even cut people with bullshit imaginary swords? And why did the few other times when Baki KO'd him but didn't kill him count as "defeat" when the last one did? He even acknowledged in THIS FIGHT that Baki should've killed him after the first 3-hit rush.

@pdonk
One of the big themes of this part is the difference between "war" and "fighting".
For people who play fighting death is not necessary. The moment they can "kill" but don't is the moment they "win" but killing is no fun because then how you'd be able to have fun fighting again another time? Meanwhile Musashi can only see "war" as the real thing. For him it's never over, it doesn't really "count" unless someone's dead. That's the whole point about Motobe's fight actually, him trying to teach him that in the modern them they "fight" and not wage "war". This irreconcilable difference of beliefs between the modern fighters and Musashi is what led to send Musashi back, he never belonged and never would have.

@Midoriha yeah I totally understand that.

What I don't understand is why Musashi admitted defeat after getting KO'd the second time in this fight, but not the first time. Or why he admitted defeat to Motobe, who also made him drop his sword, but then just walked away instead of going "ah gg you got me, go ahead and kill me now".

I feel very conflicted about this ending. Did Itagaki just get bored of Musashi? Feels so anticlimactic and kinda rushed, like he's just raring to move onto the next arc.

Whatever the case, thank you for the uploads!
