Is that really not a popular view? Pretty sure the vast majority of "normal“ people are aware of the fact that most of these child celebrities turn out fucked up with issues and have to do questionable stuff they don‘t want to because of the parents.

That being said, the shoot this chapter caught me somewhat offguard and put me off considering they‘re like 16-17.
I might be misremembering hard but it seemed like she did more tame solo stuff only apart from the acting she did due to the misunderstanding? This looked like something out of a perfume ad lol.

Most of the time I see performative noise despite the fact of consuming their work for their own personal pleasure. Hell, even the compassion for their lost childhood is a type of entertainment, look at that Michael Jackson "biopic". Maybe times are changing, I don't keep up with contemporary mores very much, but I haven't see anyone stopping this exploitation of children despite all the crowing over power dynamics and consent in other areas of life. As I see it this goes far beyond any sexual angle, it's about signing an identity away before you've formed it under the conception that the parent owns it and can make or allow the ignorant to make that choice.

When Akari's Mom first appeared, I thought she was the typical parent who takes advantage of her star child to make a fortune. The impression she gives me now is that, after having succeeded in turning her daughter into a celebrity, she wants Minori to be able to continue the career she helped to carve out for her into adulthood. It's obvious that Minori's mother is working hard to make sure her daughter's career doesn't stall. Minori tells Waku in the previous chapter that her mother has gone out and will be home late. Despite this, we see that she woke up before her daughter, and the first thing she did was check the job offers Akarin has been receiving.
I don't think Minori's mother is being malicious, greedy, or negligent. It's very likely that these efforts stem from her desire to lay the strongest possible foundation for her daughter's career, so that Minori can later lead a much more comfortable life. The problem is that, along the way, this concern for her daughter's future well-being has turned into an obsession of which she is barely aware. This obsession has reached such a point that Minori's mother hasn't realized the price her daughter is paying. The emotional toll and stress that public events like promotional parties take on Minori are growing ever greater.
However, there's not disdain or concern, but affection, in Minori's Mom words when she discovers Minori and Waku sleeping peacefully, separated (and connected) by the video call. She finds it's something so natural for someone her daughter’s age that it reassures her. I think this affection can help Minori to establish a new relationship with her mother, a more kinder and closer one.

Beautiful, cute and sugary chapter that proves once again that these two are meant for each other.

She’s at least level headed enough to not blow a gasket at the video call. So I say we sit and wait. The mother seems like she’s living vicariously through her daughter, but hopefully through just observing them she can get that out of her system.

Yeah idk, I don't feel the "bad manager mom" archetype here, like, she's not bothered by her daughter sleeping on the phone with a boy at all, she seems like she thinks it's cute even. Then it seems like she's putting the pieces together as to why her daughter seems more motivated. The whole "he's my oshi!" part feels to me like she treats her daughter almost like a friend? The kind you'd talk to about your likes and your favourites? Do we know where Oura's dad is? It's been a while.

This is a cute manga. It's just two cute kids making it work. Every chapter so far has been cute. Every conflict so far has had cute causes and has been solved by cute means. I really don't think the author's going to make such a drastic change in the theme and have her mother be an obstacle. I'd sooner expect her to give them her blessing to marry.

Ahhh, yes, finally! Somebody says it! Child celebrities always makes me uncomfortable... Cuz I just know those poor kids are being exploited.

DIMH fell off imo. It's so frustrating to me. Maybe I'll give it another go at some point but the premise kinda shifted from slow burn awkward romance which was shockingly realistic to whats goin on now.

Mom definitely giving me the vibe of living vicariously through her daughter.

Now I don't think she's a bad person or a bad mom per se but I definitely feel like she's gotten too caught up in the Akari persona (granted being manage for a budding child star cannot be an easy task I'll give her that) and making sure it succeeds that she's forgetting to let her simply breathe.

What she does during the next couple of chapter will be pivotal in defining her role in the story. She's discovered that Oura and Waku's friendship and she seems savvy enough to recognize he's both a source of motivation for her and an outlet for her to simply be herself and let loose. Now there's a couple of ways she could go about it but I'm hoping she'll just be quiet about figuring out their secret and letting Oura have her relationship with Waku develop uninhibited.

I'm of the opinion that to be a good parent and have a child who's a celebrity is a rare feat, and Akari's mom is not achieving that

I feel like its probably a more common sentiment than you think, but not many people have really thought it through enough and there's a lot of money in child celebrities, so it gets ignored
