At first, I found this pretty okay. Yes, it was a bit generic, but it was still fun. Then the author went ahead and ruined it by using the side characters in a particular way. Normally, I don't mind side characters getting together, but how am I supposed to invest in the main couple getting together in future chapters when there's another couple that did the exact same thing, but a hundred times better? For Pete's sake, the main character has no redeeming qualities to justify the female main character's interest in him. His defining traits are his lack of self-esteem and the density of a black hole. The side character, on the other hand, is handsome, tall, athletic, intelligent, and landed a girl who is in no way inferior to the main female lead within just ten chapters. The author seems to find it interesting to highlight this contrast at every possible turn. While this story initially caught my interest, it failed to hold it due to the problematic characterization and skewed focus on side characters. For me, the main character's lack of depth and the overpowering presence of better-developed side characters really undermine the story's potential. It's not the narrative I was hoping for, but if these aspects don't bother you, then you might find it more enjoyable than I did.

I think the MC is acting more sus towards his friend than the FMC is towards the MC :thonk:

After reading the first few chapters, I decided to buy all the JPLN and read them as there are (as of this time posting) only three of them. I have to say, this might have been one of the most boring light novels I've ever read, unfortunately. Because I really wanted to like it at first. Absolutely nothing of note really happens other than
finding out that they are childhood friends. Which, if you pay a little bit of attention to how they call each other, is not that big of a spoiler. There are no scandals of her having a boyfriend or anything at all.
If you are interested in a series that has no rivals, or any drama at all, then this might be for you. There are a few rivals that get hinted at for the MC, but they get shut down instantly.
