It’d be interesting if he tried changing the subject then their relationship would regress, later on he’d regret his own actions and through constant trials he redeems himself. For example his actions caused her to be less at home and more at work he spots her with a co-worker, he then forcefully grabs her hand, co-worker interferes and he finally declares himself as her fiancée. I think this would be more interesting.
