Uh, that's perfectly reasonable. Firearms are reusable. And, generally, eating them is not advised. If all the food is corrupted because "whoosh whoosh, apocalypse happen" and even animals are mutated and there's radiation, planting food is also an issue even if you have seeds. Even in times of famine in African countries, there's often more AKs available than chickens.

And if the soil and water is contaminated with radiation or god-knows-what else, you sure as hell wouldn't want to eat the crops you grew even if they you could.
You could probably purify water and get some soil that wasn't contaminated, but you also need a metric shitload of it. Or very expensive and purpose-build hydroponics.

purify water is really easy to do just evaporate and condensate it. And soil not contaminated is the easiest to find dig a bit the earth you will find it especially marsh soil is the best one.

Which does absolutely nothing to remove radioactivity. You might remove some heavy metals, which is surely helpful, but the water is still contaminated. There's a reason why things like reverse osmosis is used for water treatment.

And soil not contaminated is the easiest to find dig a bit the earth you will find it especially marsh soil is the best one.

Which will still be contaminated by tilled top soil from you digging into it. And would require you to remove tons of dirt.
Notice that in Chernobyl, instead of doing that, it was easier and better to TRUCK IN FROM ELSEWHERE literal hundreds of thousands of tons of soil from elsewhere that wasn't contaminated. If just "dig up dirt below" was adequate, the Soviets would've done it since it would've been much easier.

@definitionofinsanity they may didn't think about it you know about the ground. As you know radiation fallout particle don't travel that far and digging the dirt 5-50 meter below is just more expensive. Just a money story.
