I think it's a butterfly effect situation where Daisy becomes too dependant on the medicine and that inevitably leads to a situation that causes an untimely death. Daisy probably needs to screw the dad for the good timeline.

Think the issue might be due to two things. First thing being Daisy's 'favoritism' for master being greater than normal, so she gets urges more often. Second thing is her natural resistance to drugs. Both of these things together makes the drug act more like a placebo.

Or at least that would make sense if they didn't mention the drug putting Daisy's life in danger. Maybe the drug isn't what's dangerous, but the false sense of security it gives everyone.
