Chapter is early this week - I'm out of town for the weekend!

Since it's the end of the chapter I may skip a week next week. I have costumes to work on for an upcoming convention, so I'll have to see how far ahead I am on the upcoming chapters. It'll either be next week on the 20th or the week after on the 27th!

I think it's funny... Raize was all "shut up Fooga you're spoiling things and letting Avan know too much about us... so now let me monologue about the nitty gritty details about how we function!" Like bro... seriously... stop monologuing!

ok two things one have fun at the convention and exposition is crucial for any story it helps the readers understand what drives the antagonist or protagonist in their goal

I'll say it again, a greater love story than Maam and what's her name Sage girl combined. Way better dynamic and chemistry.
Let's headcanon Hyunckel goes back to hook up with Noelle at the end of it all.

I kinda feel bad for them though. The Beruks. They are, ultimately, weapons. They're sentient but have no real body. They want to fight and get stronger but cannot do themselves. They must always depend on others no matter what to be able to "be".

RIP in pieces axe dude. Literally. It's always the big dudes who are taken out of the way first. Jobber life.

So far we have seen:

  • Groysan the axe (dead),
  • Raize the sword,
  • Fooga the spear,
  • Suigun the heavy sword,
  • Tempest the witching sword
  • unnamed gazelle (legit teaser page)
  • unnamed short one (shadowy figure in ch 45 page 8-9)
  • unnamed other not yet appearing.

If you look at page 50 of ch 45 it show a group of weapons: axe, spear, 3 swords, bow, gauntlet, chains/whip. 8 total weapons.

Mathing it out, with Groysan dead, there are 7 left, three we haven't been introduced to yet.

End of chapter 44 also has a picture of the 8.

Makes sense Crocodine is strong enough to destroy one of those, seeing how even resurrected Hadlar is below him in raw power.

Wonder how far the ”prequel” will go. At this point, it would make sense to straight up adapt and remake early Dai since Hadlar is nowhere near as much of a smug goblin.

I'm guessing it will go right up to the point the king of papnica tells Avan about the hero boy living on dermline island that his daughter won't shut up about...

If I had to guess the closing scene will be one of the following.

1 Avan and Popp on the boat leaving Papnica

2 Avan and Popp as they approach or land on the shore.

3 Avan and Popp as Dai runs up to greet them.

While I wouldn't mind a retelling of the original, I would much rather they time skip and pick up with where the original left off.

Maybe we'll get a story of what Avan did when everyone thought he was dead before it time skips to a sequel?

Based on the current pacing (roughly 4 volumes ch 44-60 to tell hyunkel's story), I would expect another 10 to 15 volumes, to get through Maam Popp and the conclusion of getting to the start of Dai.

At 4 volumes a year... This story is going to be with us a while longer.

I agree. I'd rather read the continuation of the original manga too rather than a remake.

I have mixed feelings about following Avan's dungeon diving chapters though.

I personally would prefer an entirely brand new series rather than a continuation of Dai.

I know there was a vague plan/idea for a sequel back then... but the series was pretty complete, story-wise and character-wise. And with how high the powerlevels got and were, some random new guys out of nowhere that were actually stronger than Vearn all along as the new villains would be beyond awful.

One of the things I've enjoyed the most of this Avan prequel is that the powerlevels being so much lower allowed for a wider breadth of everyone being more useful and having their own moment.

There was not much else to go anymore and I would very much rather avoid a Boruto moment.

With how much the franchise has changed, progressed and added through the years, decades at this point, seeing all those things getting implemented and getting their own spin added to them just like how Dai did back then would be super interesting to see.

I feel Avan’s quest during the events of Dai while he’s assumed dead would work as an epilogue of sorts? He’s pretty isolated during that time so there’s a lot of freedom. Plus anything he would’ve fought would have to be rogue or independent of Dai’s story. It’s the final chapter of Avan’s narrative that we don’t know about within the story we do. There’s also the added bonus that Avan is at the limits of his strength so any foe would be technique or mental. Lots of potential there.

Tho since it’d be like 2-3 chapters in this series pacing they’d probably include his part at the start of og Dai. End on him reuniting with the group tho, that’s pretty ideal.
