I know they want to put in some action for the reunion so those bandits found him first, but it's still pretty dumb, since they know he was frozen to stop the poison and the poison is still trying to kill him immediately, why would the elf wife who knows about that, be late for his thawing? She should be camping that place for months eager for his thawing once she had gotten the antidote and nearing the deadline.
