I love this series but when I first read it this part bummed me out so much. Hand to hand weapons are just better when you want to make supernatural weapons. Guns have so many variables and when everyone is usually crazy fast dodging is a big concern. I was hoping his staff was his soul weapon. Still, it fits his character so its not like its a bad choice and it works throughout the story.
