Forum Spam Update Thread

Well this was quite an exciting event to happen at 2 A.M in the morning.

A bot was created that spammed new threads at a rate of about 1,000 new threads per minute, about 50,000 threads were made.
We have a time limit on how often an account can create comments, but apparently we forgot to apply that to thread creations as well. A design oversight that will be fixed.
CloudFlare under attack mode has been turned on for the time being until such changes can be made. The threads will be deleted by Holo when he's available.
As for how many accounts they've made, that much is uncertain. We have captcha upon registration, but may have to consider adding additional steps.

The actions of one spammer are not by any means representative of the entire community, I'm sure we're all aware of that much.

I believe @ABCsOFLife is right. I don’t think we’re our of the woods just yet. The forum were covered with spam. There could be a possibility that (idk and frankly don’t care who did it) more spam might flood in.

It would be bad if they start to target chapters and flood them with troll content or as ABCsOFLife mentions random acts of sex.

Not reCAPTCHA please. It's the most useless piece of technology shit in the world. reCAPTCHA has been known for benefiting Chrome users and intentionally fuck up with other browsers, fuck up VPN users and fuck up users who don't log in Google services. If you are going to put a CAPTCHA, please don't use Google's.

If you would like to try it yourself, download Tor or Firefox, put up a VPN, log out Google and see yourself going through 5-10 slow ass CAPTCHA that keep coming even after you chose the right squares.

@Samhill Try installing some privacy-oriented add-ons like Ublock Origin, Decentraleyes or Privacy Badgers. The wonderful thing about Firefox is that it has a good add-on platform. If you don't use add-on, you are not fully living the Firefox life 🤣

The update of the forum has been spammed due to different reasons. The majority of the threads of the update and link redacted are articulated for the fitness of the users. This information is interesting for the update and spam for the relevant factors for the future engagements.
