I don't dislike the flashback for now, but I don't get why we get this at this point (we should've seen this sooner) nor why we get it mid arc nor why it's so long... but well, hope it ends soon.

who knows if the "gods" intentionally planned for raoul to be in that place and at that time just to guilt trap victoria... but i'm pretty sure we can all tell this is what led to victoria being who she eneded up as in the future

Maybe they're the ones that made him trip?

Although, for all we know, they influenced the knights to attack a high ranking member of another nation to see what would happen

I kind of agree with others here; I don't think this flashback is so much about her redemption as showing us that this world has always been screwy due to the monstrous actions and manipulations of the gods. It is giving us context for how we got here. (Making Victoria more tragic, sure - but not really excusing anything.)

Sorta like how alot of Greek myths roll.

Maybe I'm wrong though, and this is gonna get dumb in the end? Still, I'm not quite ready to turn sour just yet.

Filleeeeeeeeer. I swear this manga's pacing took a nosedive after Raoul went to hell. We were about to get to Raoul vs gods and the magazine or the editor told the author "we gotta milk this shit" and BAM! "literally who?" wizards arc, this jistifying arc, the little city in the sky arc, sure, some develop like the king torture arc or this one but goddamit WE WERE RIGHT THERE MAN!!!
