I think the bit where they were signalling the chopper and everything before it besides the non-apocalyptic bit was a dream. The end frame is the girl she loves, and the reality of their situation.

Ahahahaha Takemiya Jin is having a grand old time switching the genres around. This is a lot funnier if you know the mangaka's usual work and themes.

Also, moral lesson for the kids: confess your yuri love, girls, or God will send meteors down to give you the opportunity regardless.

as a fan of takemiya jin, i second this. the first 15 pages are just about exactly what i would expect from her usual oneshots, whereas the last page was completely unexpected and out of place. surprising and hilarious juxtaposition, and yet still in line with her at times twisted and broken characters -- just a lot less subtle in this case. i love it.
