Although I really would have liked to see the editors and managers reactions to the final chapters of Devilman, to me the story kept getting more and more shocking right up until the end, so I wanted to hear Nagai's account of how people at the time reacted. If they thought the mother getting mutilated was too far, how did they allow what happened to Miki? Was there any controversy about Ryou being hermaphroditic? Were the fans outraged at the sudden ending? Was it immediately hailed as a masterpiece, or only in hindsight?
