Leaving aside that, it's weird that one of the main reasons it's so damn good is because it's an Isekai where the Main Character isn't super powerful, where the Villain is a villain and the Original Protagonist is still a good person, right?

A bit of a crack theory but I think that "Lapis" is actually Aurora and that the original Lapis died. There's not much hard evidence but definitely some that hints to this.
  • This chapter states that a noble died, not a commoner.
  • The outfit of the dead noble seems to match young Lapis's outfit from Ch. 4.
  • "Lapis" in Ch. 2 is surprised at Natori's insistence on morning meals, a notion only really shared amongst nobles who herself should be familiar with.
  • Often times "Lapis" would reassure herself in her actions by stating that she is "Lapis Tenebrae" as though "Lapis Tenebrae" was a concept rather than her own self.
  • The talk between "Lapis" and her father in Ch. 10 is cold and distant which could be explained by other things but the whole statement that they are "parent and child" is weird.
  • "Lapis" calling her existence an act in Ch. 10.
  • The writing never states who "Lapis" finds Natori and Diana similar to and cut off before her thoughts about her targets for revenge stated who they killed which leaves this purposely ambiguous.
  • In Ch. 4, the flashback shows the readers Aurora's face first before Lapis's which makes the whole interaction feel as though it's from Aurora's POV.
There's probably some other stuff that could hint towards this possiblity but these are some of the ones I find the most relevant.

tl;dr - I think the "Lapis" we've been with so far is actually Aurora.
Ooooo that’d be such a great twist though. Reminds me of another otome isekai manga, where the Heroine was replaced by a reincarnator, only to reveal that the original personality still exists and was yandere for her.

I actually think you're right and it's primarily for one other reason which is, why did the anti-noble faction kill a commoner? It could have been a lesson to other commoners sure but if the noble's daughter was there as the flashback suggests it seems somewhat counterproductive.

On top of that "Lapis"'s motivation for the purge seems more personally motivated than idealogically.

Diana calls her Natalie because JP name too hard.
Lapis and the others calls her Natori just fine

As for the current RAW chapters.... :pepehmm:
Diana rizz'd another girl in her quest to get Natori.

Exaggerated, but way.
The next arc is a sport tournament where the winner get the chance to ask high rank nobles for a request.
Diana plan to ask for Natori from Lapis.

Her team was lacking in members tho, and Vice Pres shows up to have a girl join Diana team.
Didn't take long to know she's under some order.
And Diana doing Diana thing made the girl decide to help Diana out.

So she 'rizz'd' her, just not ->geh and more ->ally (helping with Diana/Natori ship if anything) rizz.
