@Doctor_Malsyn Unfortunately, common sense is the least common thing in world, aside from maybe common courtesy. Social drinking in Japan is this whole, stupid thing. There's several situations where you just can't escape it without suddenly being the bad guy. With that in mind, Yuki wanting a test run is at least a responsible way to approach this impending social pressuring.

@Glomoro That's one thing I'll absolutely never like about Japan, how it has this weird social pressure of trying to get everyone drinking . They're all adults though, and for someone like Yuki if she's expecting to get drunk, testing to see how she's like might've been the best for her.

Makes me curious though for manga scenes that go against the grain of social expectation where they refuse to drink for whatever reason.

@Doctor_Malsyn Offhand what comes to mind is several instances where a character had an excuse to not go out at all. Stuff like "Well I'm a single parent, sorry, but I gotta get home and take care of that kid. Maybe another time." The maybe another time is pretty critical, too. You have to imply that you would go if you could, otherwise you're now the office's Debbie Downer or something. It could legitimately hurt your chances for promotions and stuff as far as I'm aware.
