As a warning to anyone who might be upset by such things, the major theme (or rather the motif) of this work is suicide.

Nobody dies (thus, no tragedy tag) and it's treated semi-abstractly, but all the characters seem to romanticize about it a bit, so it may be a bit upsetting to certain readers, happy ending notwithstanding.
