@Ultenth Thanks for the info.
But looking back at the chapter, goddess only say he can buy item from his previous world......Unless there is an error, otherwise he could buy anything including rocket launchers.

@Syanalassa shotguns can use different types of ammo, yer thinking of birdshot/buckshot ammos that does short/mid range AoE damage but there's one called slug that can be used long ranged so a scope is sometimes used if yer gonna use this type

why is he using a shotgun as a sniper? yea the hollywood/gaming idea of shotguns only working within a few meters is bullshit but they sure as fuck aren't effective at 170 meters...

@Jercov- @naeon thanks shotguns arent really used for hunting in my country most people just use rifles, so didnt think slugs really had much more range than birdshot

You have any idea how long a pump action shotgun is? And this dude is just wielding it about under a wolf

Effective range for a shotgun slug are around 150 yards or 137 meters, unless you have a specialized rifled barrel and ammo. It looks like he's using regular 12 gauge shotgun shells.
Shotguns are meant for close range, not sniper duty. You was a more accurate, long-range weapon? Try a rifle.

Shooting something 170 meters away with shotgun?
Accurately?
Maybe it's MC's cheat? I'd prefer using hunting rifle to a shotgun...

The most impressive thing is the comment section repeatedly asking why the guy is using a Remington 870 shotgun with slug ammo with a scope, while the answers for that have all been answered already

Like, I have a very basic knowledge of guns, but I know that with a quick google search for hunting shotguns you can find a lot of sites talking about that, I even found one were a guy said he was literally using the same gun as the MC (a Remington 870 with slug ammo) and that he could accurately kill deers at 150ft and with some training you can even shoot up to 200ft

You do know that 200 feet only comes to just under 61 meters, right? Rule of thumb, 3 feet is just under 1 meter. Shooting at 170 meters or just under 558 feet with a shotgun slug is almost impossible without a rifled barrel and specialized ammo.

@Le_Flemard Huh. Given the lengths Japan seems to go to to avoid allowing guns into the hands of its populace, that seems like a (relatively) huge opening... The more you know; thanks for the link!

Some of the things mentioned on there just seem plain weird though-- "In addition to these requirements, there are age restrictions for gun ownership — 18 generally, 14 for athletes, and 20 for hunters. People can't fire their guns except for the specific reasons given for obtaining a firearm in the first place."... so you can get a gun for, say, marksmanship competitions at a young age, but why would 'hunting' be at a higher age than the rest? Type of weapon (longer range, higher stopping power, etc) involved? Seems like there are better categorizations to use, and age bracketing for that seems off.

The only reasons why I can think of for making a shotgun into a pseudo-rifle would be gun laws or flexibility. Maybe they've got some weird restrictions on hunting rifle calibers or something for hunters in his province/state/whatever you want to call it. On the other hand, if he put on a rifled choke for stabilizing the slugs then he'd be able to swap between using slugs for bigger game and buckshot/birdshot for smaller game. Still, the use of a scope for the relatively short range and high drop of slugs seems weird to me. I'd rather just get a normal bolt action rifle...

@entity_101
Basically, slugs and a scope on a shotgun are usable, but for longer ranges (beyond 75 yards) it's not really worth the effort of acquiring the ammo/modifying the shotgun. It's more convenient (and honestly better) to just buy a .30 cal/7.62mm bolt action rifle. Also, his scope seems to be pretty high magnification so he's kind of limiting himself to shooting distant targets. It's understandable why people keep asking about scoping his shotgun since it's just that weird.

@animeaddictionIV and @jreadingmanga I looked back at the site and notice that I wrote the measure wrong, it said 100-yard gun, my mistake I'm not used to using English distance scales, so I confused the yard with ft
But just to make my point:
"Rifled slug barrels are providing hunters the ability to consistently and accurately hit targets ethically out to 150 yards or more. Rifled barrels come interchangeably with pump and semi-auto shotguns."
"To increase accuracy, scopes and chokes can be used in tandem to create more consistency. Slug guns have notoriety for churning through scopes, though."
"If you know you want to use a slug gun for tight cover, then pick a scope with less power. If sitting over a late-season food plot, a 4X to 12X scope is more than sufficient" (I guess the MC Remington 870 has the latter)
All quoted from the site itself

The site: https://www.realtree.com/deer-hunting/articles/deer-hunting-with-a-slug-gun

So I'm not saying it's better or anything, I'm more like saying people already answered that, it exists, it works, and there are now shotguns already being sold with the necessary stuff for a long-range shot without really needing any further modding, and according to the site it's easier to use

P.S: About him using the scope, I would say he probably shoots from longer ranges but due to the bear being about to kill a child he had to get its attention by firing closer to it, and after that with the wolves he just used the gun he had with him, that happened to have a scope
