Finally being outright confrontational, Ferdinand is doing Wilfried more of a service than most of Wilfried’s servants have his entire life.
I think it’s pretty clear at least now Wilfried has some enthusiasm to improve seeing how far behind he is outside of his own bubble and feeling embarrassed about it, but Ferdinand driving the nail home here to ensure he doesn’t relapse is still heavily needed.
For anyone wondering what's happening to Lampreht that's the crushing the same thing Myne did to the previous high bishop when they first met.(Just to a much less lethal degree)
His grandma i think, someone said in a previous chapter that his dad was a mommy's boy and let his mother in charge of the education instead of his wife which proceeded to fill him with stupid pride and barely any education, i think they sent her to the old folks home (some mansion in the countryside) to cut her influence on the kid it's why he's surprised since she pampered him and probably was the one threatening tutor/attendant when they tried to "force" him to study.Who was lady Veronica? And what that mean that she is gone?
Veronica is Sylvester's mother, the one was mentioned as having taken care of Will's education.Who was lady Veronica? And what that mean that she is gone?
If an adult had said that to me when I was 8 years old, I would have been traumatized to the point of secluding myself for life. It's one thing to be honest with him (completely necessary) or punish his attendant (harsh, but a long time coming)... and another to openly threatening a small boy with "crushing" him.Ferdinand's line was awesome. "I would rather raise your siblings and crush you with all my might. Remember that."

Myne said that it was better if Wilfred ended up being terrified of Ferdinand than disgraced... but this is going to be a something that scars him for life and will make any future interaction with Ferdinand very difficult for him.
Lady Veronica is the wife of the previous lord Archduke and is Lord Sylvesters mother making her Wilfred's grandmother. She hated Ferdinand because he was born from a concubine of the late Lords.Who was lady Veronica? And what that mean that she is gone?

It was common practice when someone was executed as the result of treason up to three generations (i.e. for the head priest this would include his parents, his siblings (we know Veronica is his sister), and their children) would have been executed. Lord Sylvester, his wife, and his children would have been spared because he is the lord of the city who was being betrayed.Veronica is Sylvester's mother, the one was mentioned as having taken care of Will's education.
Veronica's brother was the old fat Bishop who almost kill Myne.
After that case, Sylvester had her arrested (she helped her brother).
That's why "she is gone", she has no more authority, will not spoil Will anymore and Ferdinand will not have to stand her again (he hates he as she did bully him for not being a legitime child).
