Holy fuck what a good chapter. After reading so much generic shit made to appeal to the otaku culture, reading something written so well and deep is something else.

Oh dood... this, destroyed me
I feel so bad for her mom, she just thought she had to do it that way and everything would be fine, all her life thinking that way and when was told "Congratulations, you're finally fully fledged now!" knowing so well that it wasn't worth it, that was ... so heavy. On top of that, Makio's words pierced through her emptiness like a bullet.

Asa too, she got to know it the worse way possible...ah, I can't help but think that everything is broken now. For the record, I don't think she wasn't loved by her mom, but I think her mom didn't love herself at all.

Aaahh shit.

This chapter... it's so heavy but it's so comforting at the same time. I resonates with me.

Mom was an awful sister, and if her daughter doesn't even feel sure she's loved I kinda feel she didn't turn out to be a great mom either ...

Would saying that if at this point it turned out her death was perhaps a bit more suicidal than merely accidental I wouldn't be surprised be too outlandish?

The part of her dad is most likely that they were seeing each other but they weren't careful, she got pregnant ... and that wasn't planed at that point, so he just said "I wil ltake care of our daughter but we don't need to put a fake show for our marriage" so yeah, I guess he didn't really love her, they just had sex and ended up in that situation. Come on, is the most common (sadly) story in the world

Of course if Aya knows this now she will feel unwanted.

So, it seems that in the end Minori was envious of Makio for forging her own path and sort of took that out on herself and everyone else around her when she was betrayed by her own expectations of what "a normal life" is. I feel terrible for Asa, though. She might have been provided for as far as a roof over her head and whatnot but I don't think she felt like she was cared for. The chapter where she buys that macbook without telling Makio because she's afraid Makio wouldn't let her join the music club is very telling of that, I think.

@Serenata Yeah that makes sense. Loveless relationship completely predicated on Asa's existence. Sounds miserable for all involved.

We've hardly seen anything of Asa's father and I already dislike the guy. Like how terrible of a father do you have to be for your daughter to hardly even think about you after your death? It's like Asa never had the impression that he loved her.

Poor Asa. That diary's probably going to give her more questions than answers.

the reason why the father didn't want legal marriage is intentionally hidden. There can be several reasons, and I personally don't think they're in a loveless relationship. At least, the author didn't put that kind of scenes so far. The main focus is that Minori couldn't tell the fact to others.
This chapter is subtly connected to Kasamachi's mother episode. Kasamachi admits that his mother has some problems, but Makio says she loved him in her own way.
Asa's problem is that she can't verify her mother's love anymore.
